At the Annual Editorial Board Meeting of JAT, held in Washington DC, in January 1998, it was decided that a Millennium Special Issue would be published in the Year 2000.
The Millennium Special Issue will consist of approximately ten papers written by key internationally recognized researchers who have contributed to the field of transportation engineering and planning during the last three decades. The prospective authors were recommended by the Editorial Board mostly through a process of nomination and ranking.
Each paper will explore a major area of transportation that is of interest to JAT readers. It will review the advances made during the last two decades or so of the 20th Century and state the authors vision on the progress that will be made in the first few decades of the next Millennium. Each author will bring an individual style and approach to the project since no attempt will be made to have uniformity.
Look for draft abstracts of the papers at this site. Please note that this is an evolving project and that titles, abstracts etc (even authors) may change.
Visitors to the site are encouraged not to contact authors regarding this project. However, the editor of the special issue, Chan Wirasinghe, welcomes comments sent to scwirasinghe@hotmail.com.
