The Journal accepts the following types of articles:

  • Original papers in the range of 1000-4000 words
  • Technical Notes, short accounts of useful techniques, likely to be helpful to others but not meriting a fully documented paper, of 500-1000 words
  • Letters to the Editors, either giving advance reports of important work or commenting on previously published papers, of no more than 1000 words.

Only original manuscripts, written in English, in the range of 2000 - 6000 words, should be submitted for review to the Co-Editor-in-Chief: Dr.S.C.Wirasinghe (scwirasinghe@hotmail.com).
Original manuscripts are those that are previously unpublished in any form, and not currently under review by another electronic or print journal or website.
Submission of an electronic manuscript in Microsoft WORD format by e-mail, or on diskette/CD via post or courier is required.

An abstract of 100 to 150 words is required.
Manuscripts should be double spaced, in Times New Roman font, and 11 pt. size.

All illustrations and tables should be inserted in the script. Authors should refer to all diagrams or photographs as "Figures" in the text and should number them consecutively in the order in which they appear. Tables should be similarly treated. Captions should appear immediately below the figure or table.

The references should be indicated in the text by names of author and year of publication, e.g., (Liu and Wirasinghe, 2001). Complete references, in alphabetical order by author name, should appear at the end of the paper (Multiple works by the same author are listed chronologically.). The following form should be used for journal articles: names of authors, title of the paper, name of the journal (underlined), Volume - Issue, the first and last page numbers, and year of publication:

Liu, G. and Wirasinghe, S.C., "A Simulation Model of Schedule Design for a Fixed Transit Route", Journal of Advanced Transportation, 35-2, pp: 145-174, 2001

For publications in conference proceedings, provide: names of authors, title of the paper, title of the Proceedings, names of the editors, first and last page numbers or for CD-ROM the paper number, publisher, city, country, and year of publication:

Bell, M. G. H., Cassir, C., Iida, Y., and Lam, W. H. K., "A Sensitivity-based Approach to Network Reliability Assessment", Proceedings of the 14th International Symposium on Transportation and Traffic Theory, Ed: Ceder, A., pp: 283-300, Elsevier, Oxford, 1999.

 Footnotes should be avoided.
Great care should be taken in finalizing the corrected manuscript for publication, as no "proofs" will be provided.
The Co-Editors-in-Chief reserve the right to make editorial changes to the final version without further reference to the authors.
The Journal discards original and final submissions one month after publication.
